Elijah VS Prophets of Baal – Snack Craft

Elijah and the Contest at Mt. Carmel

Elijah had been in hiding for the 3 ½ years of the drought. The Lord now told him to reveal himself to King Ahab. Elijah bravely asked the king to gather all of the people together at Mount Carmel for a contest to see whose god was real.  850 priests of the false gods, Baal and Asherah, also attended.  Elijah asked the prophets of Baal to build altars to their “gods”. The “god” that made fire appear would be the real god

Cheese and pretzels "fire" snack ~ This was for the story of Elijah's altar and the prophets of Baal (Awana Cubbies, Bear Hug 8), but would work for the fiery furnace, too. I cut a block of cheese into medium to thick slices and then used a heart cookie cutter to cut the slices. Cut the hearts in half for flames. (Make sure you bring plenty of extras! Kids love cheese and pretzels!)
